Lasting Promise

Relationship Intelligence for Couples

PREP 8.0 v2.1 is the latest, most up-to-date, evidence-based flagship curriculum for couples from the team at PREP. While all the research-based, cognitive-behavioral skills and strategies from the core of PREP are included, this newest version goes a step further. PREP 8.0 v2.1 builds on the strong foundation of PREP by packaging the content in the most interactive, facilitator-friendly curriculum we’ve ever produced.

The couple-focused versions of PREP, including PREP 8.0 v2.1, are based on over 45 years of basic science and outcome research in the field of marital health and success, including many studies conducted at the University of Denver and various universities around the world. That means that PREP materials are empirically informed (based on the highest quality science in the field), regularly tested (with more studies by more researchers on more continents than any relationship education intervention ever developed), and regularly refined (based on best practices in andragogy as well as feedback from the field).

What To Expect

PREP 8.0 v2.1 is the latest and most sophisticated couple-focused version of PREP. The curriculum includes the proven cognitive behavioral skills, strategies, and attitudes that constitute all PREP materials (e.g., Within our Reach, Winning the Workplace Challenge, On My Shoulders, etc.). In PREP 8.0 v2.1, these skills and strategies have been revised and packaged with updated pedagogy, extensive facilitator support, multimedia, and a more accessible and attractive design for participant materials.

Couple-focused versions of PREP have been used and evaluated in low-income community settings, faith communities, the military, correctional settings, foster care programs, etc. PREP has also been used extensively as a premarital preparation program.

Who is PREP For?

PREP 8.0 v2.1 serves all couples who attend the workshop together— whether married, engaged, or otherwise mutually committed to learning powerful relationship skills. PREP has been continually refined over decades based on research as well as feedback from groups using it to serve couples from a wide range of backgrounds.

There are 15 total units (ranging from 12-16 hours of content), including topics such as healthy communication, conflict management, problem solving, expectation setting, stress and anger management, goal setting, the benefits of strengthening dedication commitment, intimacy, and many more.
